  1. Thank you so much for such a thoughtfully explained SEO guide. I came across this article by searching on Pinterest :). I have 1 question: You recommended putting the focus keyword in several places, one of which is the first paragraph. What is the first paragraph in this article: “SEO is crucial for long-term blog growth …”, or “Keyword research is an essential part of Search Engine Optimisation”?
By the way, your writing is very natural, and I wouldn’t be able to tell that you had gone through such an intensive SEO process :).

    1. Thanks Trang! I am so pleased you found this helpful. 🙂 In answer to your question ‘SEO is crucial for long term blog growth…’ is the first paragraph. I’m so pleased my writing comes across as natural. That really is so important for SEO – weaving in keywords in such a way as it is natural and enjoyable for the reader. I’m so glad to have succeeded in this post! 😀 Eb.

    1. Yes, usually I start with keyword research and then write my post – though sometimes I do do a little more research during or after I’ve written my post too. It’s definitely something to check when editing a post! Eb 🙂

  2. I soooo needed to read this post, which is really well written, with a great flow (I am always skimming what I read, not on this post). First of all I have health issues. So to help me feel productive and because I enjoy creating recipes I started my food blog. The idea being when I’m well I can create, photograph etc. and when I’m stuck in bed I can edit photos, write up blog posts and interact on social media. In reference to your own word I really was unable to post new content for over a month and guess what my traffic dipped, by a considerable amount. So, as you can see, I need to improve my keywords so that my blog can be a success regardless of my health. Thank you so much for Productive Blogging and especially this post on keyword importance and research.

    1. Aw, yay! So pleased you found this post helpful Sammie 😀 I’m sorry to hear about your health issues, but delighted that you are still able to blog! It’s one of the things I love the most about blogging – it’s so flexible and works round whatever life throws at you! Eb x

  3. This was such a great post! I have been reading TONS on SEO and this is by far the best, most thorough and helpful article I’ve read! So many of them out there are very redundant and surface-level. Thank you so much!

  4. This article is very helpful for me, as I am currently in the “stuck” mode when looking for content to write about. This is such a time saver!! I’m also reading several of your blogs and I find them very helpful. I paid for a course but I can definitely use your information to supplement my course material. Thanks for the great post.

    1. Yay – I am so glad to hear that you are finding my blog so helpful. I hope it helps you get ‘unstuck’! Eb 🙂

  5. Another awesome blog post that I’m reading from you. This is so helpful. I have one question: I have no visitors to my site as of yet. So when I use the google console or analytics can I put the search terms in based on my topics of interest to see how they rank?
